Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, innovative, and reliable Residential Electrical Department Director to lead our residential electrical department. This role is ideal for a proven operational leader who thrives on building high-performing teams, driving efficiency, and delivering outstanding service. The Department Director will oversee daily operations, mentor and develop staff, maintain client relationships, and ensure that projects are completed safely, on time, and on budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a team of electricians, foremen, and apprentices, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee departmental operations, including performance evaluations, coaching, and professional development.
- Coordinate with contractors, clients, project managers, and estimators to manage schedules, allocate resources, and support competitive project bidding.
- Ensure OSHA compliance and promote a strong safety culture across all projects.
- Manage budgets, review bids and invoices, and ensure accurate and timely billing.
- Conduct and facilitate regular departmental, foreman, and apprentice meetings to ensure alignment and clear communication.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and suppliers, providing exceptional service and resolving issues promptly.
Qualifications
- OSHA 10 Certification required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ proven leadership experience in employee development, team management, and performance optimization.
- Electrical industry experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in construction bidding, cost estimation, and project budget management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks when needed.
